La Cana Golf Club, designed and completed by P.B. Dye (Pete Dye’s youngest son), is a 27-hole championship venue that features three different nines: Tortuga, Hacienda, and Arrecife. The result of his first solo effort in the Dominican Republic is an eco-friendly course that marries seamlessly with the Resort & Club’s efforts to be as environmentally conscious and self-supporting as possible. In total, 14 of the 27-holes boast ocean views, capped off and highlighted by the La Cana’s finale. Plain and simple, #17 and #18 demonstrate P.B. Dye’s ability to end on high note. Any overly conservative shot to the right is sure to find sand on either hole, whilst any shot too far left will fall victim to the sea’s crashing waves.

Turquoise waters, winding and rolling fairways, and Dye’s infamous pot bunkers are hidden amidst the endless fields of green Paspalum grass to keep even the most avid golfer on his or her toes. Look no further than #7 to find the perfect example of Dye’s masterful craftsmanship. Though he jokingly refers to the cluster of 21 bunkers as “Hecklebirnie” (meaning golfer’s purgatory according to Scottish Lore), precision is at a premium when hitting both your tee and approach shots.
