North West Ireland Golf

For adventurous golfers who prefer the road less travelled, the north-west of Ireland is just the ticket. This rugged, beautiful and remote land is a world away from the Hollywood A-list courses of the south-west, but for those who appreciate links golf in its purest form, it’s as good as it gets. Not that you can keep courses of this quality a secret, with the likes of Carne, Enniscrone, Ballyliffin and the spectacular Rosapenna all flying high in course rankings both in the UK and US. A trip to the north-west offers a slice of the real Ireland, with fantastic hospitality and a genuine sense of getting away from it all. If you want great golf but without the crowds, it’s perfect.

Average weather graph for North West Ireland

The North West of Ireland is much the same as that of the rest of the North; with mild weather all year round and no dry season you are rarely in for a surprise of what to expect. Prevailing wind blows from the south west, breaking on the high mountains in the west, therefore rainfall is more prominent in the north west of Ireland. Although it can be wet and windy at times this is all part of the Irish culture and the best way to approach it is with an open mind!
