Having been founded in 1881, Royal Belfast Golf Club is the oldest club in Ireland. The course was designed by legendary golf course architect Harry Colt, known for producing some of the finest golf courses in the UK and Ireland. Colt produced a golf course with great charm, and with its enduring brilliance, the course has matured and is still very much the same today. The club has hosted numerous championship events, including the Ulster Professional Championship, won by Darren Clarke, the Irish Cup Finals and the Irish Close Championship.

The beautiful trees, luscious fairways and intelligent bunker placement all blend together to produce an eye-capturing and exciting course to play on. But do not let its beauty fool you! Royal Belfast provides a demanding test of golf and requires accuracy rather than length. Holes 9 to 11 are particularly noteworthy. Located right on the shoreline, they are dominated by the water and a slightly imprecise shot could put you in some serious trouble - so make sure you bring plenty of golf balls with you. This truly is a fantastic Irish destination, perfect for a golf package to Ireland.

As the Royal Belfast is such a popular golfing venue, we suggest that you try and book your tee times at the earliest possible convenience. If the golf course is too busy then there is a chance that you could get paired up with another group; however the club will try to avoid this whenever possible.

    Attire in Golf Clubhouse

The Royal Belfast Golf Club follows the dress code standards as recommended by the Golfing Union of Ireland. In the clubhouse the ground floor areas are a formal dress code unless told otherwise. The atrium, changing areas and the upstairs bar are considered to be informal areas. Unacceptable dress includes – blue or black denim jeans, combat pants, garments displaying excessive branding or numbers, tracksuits, sleeveless or collarless shirts, untucked shirts, three quarter length trousers, and shoes without socks.

    Caddies and Carts

Golf carts are available at the course for a price of £25 per buggy. The use of a buggy is not always guaranteed and is usually depending on the weather. Electric trolleys and pull trolleys are also available at a smaller charge.
