Nairn Dunbar Golf Links Club overview
Formed on 24th May 1899, which was also Queen Victoria’s 80th birthday, Nairn Dunbar Golf Links started as 9 holes and not extended to 18 until 25 years and a World War later. The course configuration has changed over the years and in 1994 a new 9th, 10th and 11th opened, with a new clubhouse in 1997.
Located less than two miles from the higher profile Nairn Golf Club on the Moray Firth coastline in the Highlands of Scotland, Nairn Dunbar is a good mid-tier course to add to your itinerary for this region.
Nairn Dunbar Golf Links Course overview
Measuring just under 6800 yards from the championship tees and with great views across the Moray Firth to the Black Isle and beyond, Nairn Dunbar Golf Links is situated behind the rugged sand dunes of Nairn’s East Beach.
The first three holes are relatively gentle and don’t prepare you for the strong quartet of par-4s that follow, where gorse, trees, greenside bunkers and out of bounds all present problems.
The three newer holes at the turn are at the furthest point from the clubhouse, before coming back inland where there are three par-5s in the homeward stretch, two of which complete a tough final trio of holes.
Signature Holes
The par-3 8th hole called ‘Brodie’ plays 163 yards off the tips to a well-protected green that sits in a deep bowl. Club selection is the key here if you want any chance of making a birdie.
