Golf's Undiscovered Gem

Golf in Wales

Golf in Wales is golf as it should be — offering unspoiled landscapes, breathtaking vistas, and a friendly welcome wherever you go. You will no doubt recognize many of its famous courses and as well as be astounded by the quality of golf and the great value that can be found in the Principality. Former Walker Cup venue Royal Porthcawl – host of the 2014 Senior Open – is as good as any links you care to mention, and with legendary tracks like Royal St Davids, Nefyn and  Pennard lying in wait for the visiting golfer there’s no shortage of seaside golf in this wonderfully scenic land. And that’s saying nothing of the ever-popular Celtic Manor, where you’ll find the mighty Twenty Ten Ryder Cup layout.

    Average weather graph for Wales

The weather in Wales may be unpredictable at times, but it boasts warmer temperatures than Scotland throughout the year. The wettest months fall from October – January; the worst downpours occur in the mountains, compared to the coast which is the driest area of the country. But it’s not all gloomy skies and rainfall in Wales; we recommend booking your golf vacation between May and September to benefit from the drier, warmer weather. May is the sunniest month of the year bringing average temperatures of 68 °F. But rainfall in Wales can be particularly unpredictable so we recommend packing your waterproofs…just in case!
