Carne Golf Course Review
Par 72, 6,691 yards, park 72, links
The 1st hole measures 400 yards and is a dogleg, with a green that slopes from left to right. There is a hill on the right of the fairway - during the summer it is covered in roses.
The 5th is 431 yards, with bunkers that can be reached from the tee, and a green surrounded by a bank that can divert the ball towards the hole, or swallow it up.
The 8th is 400 yards and the main feature is the narrow, two-tiered green protected by a deep bunker on the front left.
The 12th is only 328 yards and has a wide fairway. Sounds easy enough, but the approach is played to an elevated green; get it wrong and the ball will end up back at your feet.
The 16th, a 179-yard par 3, is a delight, played from an elevated tee to a green nestled in a hollow, with a huge sand dune to the right and wild orchids growing in the rough.
The final hole runs to 541 yards and is a terrific par 5 with spectacular views of the Atlantic from the tee. A valley in front of the green could easily cost a shot.
