The truly stunning Greg Norman designed El Camaleón Golf Course at Mayakoba is widely known for hosting the Mayakoba Golf Classic PGA Tour Event. The course navigates through thick Mexican mangrove jungles, limestone canals, and breathtaking oceanfront stretches to offer every visitor the perfect blend of visual and golfing beauty.

Situated in the north end of Playa del Carmen, Mexico, the links proudly stands as the first golf course to host an official PGA Tour event in México and the first official PGA Tour event ever contended outside of the United States or Canada. Despite not being the longest course in the area, the local prevailing winds certainly bolster its defense. Whether straight into, off the right or left, or at your back, every gust will surely need to be taken into consideration to avoid selecting the wrong club, inevitably guaranteeing at least a bogey.

Though only two holes are truly seaside, water comes into play on all but three. Other obstacles includea plethora of bunkers, the naturally dense forest, and four cenotes (natural subterranean caves).

The design, carefully crafted by “The Shark” himself, balances doglegs with straight holes, barren runoff areas with a litany of bunkers, and water with white sands to create a fun, memorable experience for all those who play it. The undulating terrain, of which there is plenty, coupled with elevation changes can help or hurt your shots both from the tee and into the green.
