Golspie Golf Club overview
Golspie Golf Club was founded in 1889 and boasts a gem of a course that includes links, meadowland, heathland and parkland – which is pretty unique!
Located in the Highlands of Scotland between Brora and Royal Dornoch golf clubs, just over an hour north of Inverness, Golspie has stunning views looking out over the North Sea and Dornoch Firth.
It was initially a nine-hole course that was remodelled and extended by James Braid in 1926, and although a relatively short layout by modern standards Golspie is consistently ranked amongst Scotland’s top 100.
Golspie Golf Course overview
A par-70 measuring just over 6000 yards off the back tees, Golspie offers an amazing variety of holes in a spectacular setting. Starting over meadowland, the course then turns into links along the Dornoch Firth, after which there is tree-lined heathland around the turn before parkland and links by the end of the round.
Although a shorter course, it does require good course management and strategic ball placement which will keep you thinking. With Brora only 10 minutes north and Royal Dornoch 20 minutes to the south, this is a very special trio of historic courses well worth a visit.
Signature Holes
The consecutive short holes of 16 and 17 are a real delight. 175 yards followed by 211 yards, with the first one into a tricky 2-level green and the second a blind shot over a ridge to a flat green. Of course, they go in different directions too, so the wind is a key factor.
