King's Course overview

The King’s Course at Gleneagles is a magnificent moorland golf course, situated among the ridges and hollows of the estate and set between a plethora of heather, bracken, gorse and woodland. Playing the King’s Course is an exhilarating experience and golfers should not be fooled by the scorecard.

Although measuring just 6471-yards from the medal tees, the par-70 presents a challenge with any wayward shots punished by the gorse and heather filled rough. Whilst the PGA Centenary Course can boast having hosted the Ryder Cup in 2014, no visiting golfer to Gleneagles should miss out on a round here.

Signature Holes

The par-4 9th hole is a wonderful golf hole with golfers required to hit a tough drive into a valley before hitting an even harder approach shot to an elevated green. Anything short on the approach will roll back a long way or find one of two frontside bunkers.

Did You Know?

The King’s Course hosted an informal match between Great Britain and the United States in 1921 which laid the foundations for the Ryder Cup matches we know today. This inaugural match was won by Great Britain 9-3 and the course designer James Braid played on the British team.
