  • 18 holes. par 71. 6,404 yards. Links.

Originally designed by Old Tom Morris as a 15 hole course in 1889, Tain Golf Course only reached an 18 hole layout in 1911 but a number of Old Tom Morris trademarks still exist today. This traditional golf course overlooks the Dornoch Firth, offering golfers superb views of the Scottish Highlands and North Sea. The course has recently held a number of Amateur Championships, including the Scottish Ladies Amateur Championship in 2012.

The signature hole of Tain is the par four 11th or ‘The Alps’ which consists of a blind approach shot to a green set behind two sand and fantastic views. Also, the 5th hole or ‘Quaich’ is a traditional links par three, which requires an accurate tee shot to a well-protected green. The beautiful, interesting and superb layout at Tain Golf Course is sure to be a welcome addition to any golf vacation to Scotland.
