Talamore Golf Resort Overview

Talamore Golf Resort is a golfer’s dream with the villas each offering well-appointed 2 and 3-bedroom accommodations. Enjoy spectacular views of the nearby Reservoir Park as well as the Rees Jones-designed The New Course at Talamore. It’s not just the golf to enjoy here – there is a new open-air garden BBQ pavilion to enjoy an outdoor pool.

Alternatively, stay 2 miles down the road at Talamore’s sister property, The Lodges at Mid-South. Enjoy the luxury of high-end condominiums, each with stunning views of the Mid-South Golf Course. The New Course at Talamore and the Mid-South Course are two of the finest courses in North Carolina.

Golf courses at Talamore Golf Resort

Designed by Rees Jones in 1991, The New Course at Talamore is a fine example of the golf on offer in the Sandhills area; towering pines, wetlands, lakes, and wastelands, plus elevation changes of over 150 feet. Following a rejuvenation process in 2016, greens were restored to their original size, and Champion bermudagrass was introduced, bringing Talamore’s putting surfaces in line with some of the best in the area. Fairways were widened and 12 sod wall bunkers reminiscent of those in Scotland were added.

Arnold Palmer designed the course at Mid-South Club in 1993 and it is one of his finest. Recent work in 2017 saw all the greens converted to Champion bermudagrass, making them as good as any in the area. The course works its way through the towering pines, wetlands, numerous lakes, and significant elevation changes throughout the 18-holes. They like to do things ‘big’ at Mid-South – big greens, big fairways, big bunkers, and even big rocks like those sat in front of the 9th and 18th greens.

Accommodation at Talamore Golf Resort

At Talamore Golf Resort you can choose between 2 or 3-bedroom villas. All well-appointed with full kitchens, spacious living and dining rooms, covered porch, and Wi-Fi. Importantly for golf groups, each room contains 2 full-size beds, ideal for a group of friends looking to share.

The Lodges at Mid South are described as luxury condominiums. Located next to the Mid-South clubhouse and all with great views of the golf course. Designed with a Low-country feel, each is 1800 square feet in size and has two bedrooms both with two queen beds, ideal for a group of four friends to share. Beautifully appointed with full kitchens, plasma TVs, huge front and rear porches, and a spiral staircase to the second flaw.

Restaurant & Bars at Talamore Golf Resort

The clubhouses at both Talamore and Mid-South offer a great selection of food and drink to enjoy post-round or for an evening meal. Every morning guests are welcome to the complimentary breakfast buffet featuring a great assortment of southern favorites.

From April to October, all guests (staying a minimum of two nights and playing two rounds) are invited to the Thursday night ‘Pig Picken’ dinner buffet at Talamore Resort, served in spacious new Talamore Pavilion. It’s a classic Carolina-style buffet not to be missed. Every week they cook up a BBQ whole roast pig… smoked for nine hours and topped with spicy Carolina barbecue sauce.

Cook your own… also at the Talamore Pavilion guests can make use of the four gas grills and dual-sided fireplace. The Pavilion is centrally located in the villa complex and features flat-screen TVs, comfortable seating areas, and several corn hole boards.

What else is there to do?

Away from the golf, you can stay active at Talamore Resort with a 2.5-mile jogging trail, tennis, basketball, and outdoor pool.

Where to go post-round?

Enjoy a drink at Talamore’s Sports Bar, serving great food and a selection of beers. At Mid-South enjoy the stunning Clubhouse and views from the outdoor porch of the Mid-South course.

Did you know?

When Talamore Resort opened back in 1991, it featured something more unique than the Rees Jones golf – llama Caddies! The llamas quite literally put Talamore on the map, with over 5,000 articles written about them all over the world. Right now, the llamas are a thing of the past, however, there has been talk that they may return one day.

Signature Holes at Talamore Golf Resort

The 16th at Talamore is one of the toughest. A long par-4 that plays uphill all the way and guarded by the thick pine forests all the way. A deep pot bunker just left of the green has to be avoided if you are to get through this hole with a par.

The par-4 16th is often favored as the signature hole at Mid-South, with water coming into play, and with the approach shot, it is one of the visually most appealing on the course. The finishing holes on both 9s (the 9th and 18th) are also very unique in that they share a double-green.
