Ashburnham Golf Club overview
Ashburnham Golf Club takes its name from the 5th Earl of Ashburnham who previously owned the land where the golf course sits, also becoming the club’s first President in 1894. Situated a short drive from Llanelli on the Burry Estuary in South Wales the likes of J.H. Taylor and Fred Hawtree have touched Ashburnham with it evolving to 18-holes in 1902.
Considered one of Wales’ best links courses, it has hosted several important events through the years including the PGA Championship and as a Seniors Open Championship Qualifying venue seeing winners such as Sam Torrance and Dai Rees.
Nowadays golfers will experience a warm welcome and a clubhouse dating back to 1924 that offers panoramic views of the Gower Peninsula and includes a restaurant, bar area and pro-shop.

Ashburnham Golf Club is one of the most prominent courses in Wales and has a long history of being a great test of links golf with the great Harry Vardon proclaiming it to be “his favourite golf course in Wales”. Offering a classic ‘out and back’ layout that runs adjacent to Carmarthen Bay, running through undulating dune land, the wind is often a factor here which results in a challenging round of golf. Ashburnham can be stretched to 6945-yards from the back tees and plays as a par-72, interestingly beginning with a downhill par-3.
