18 holes, par 72, 6624 yards. Links.
The Ashburnham Golf Club is a challenging links golf course located just outside of Swansea, overlooking Camarthan Bay. Since it was founded in 1894, Ashburnham has earned a reputation as not only one of the oldest, but also one of the best courses in Wales. Over the years it has seen significant change. In 1902 it was extended to a full 18 holes from its original 9, and in 1914 and 1923 the course had further alterations to produce the course it is today.
Unusually for a links course, the opening two and closing two holes are uncharacteristically inland, and it isn’t until the 3rd hole when Ashburnham course runs parallel to the sea. This does, however, provide some very enjoyable variety throughout the round. The rough stuff is very hard to contend with, so golfers who find the fairway will be at a great advantage. With a large portion of out of bounds being on the right side of the fairway, Ashburnham Golf Course is not very forgiving to those who have a natural fade or slice. Both aesthetically and playability wise, this really is a superb place to play golf. We highly recommend that you add this course to your bespoke golf package – you will not regret it.
